Blockchain Project: Rolling Stone NFT and Metaverse Program

In November 2021, Rolling Stone released their first NFT-covers: the two NFTs, created in collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club with art from Yuga Labs, featured a Bored Ape and a Mutant Ape

At a Rolling Stone Live event in February 2022, Rolling Stone released a dozen NFTs created by influential digital artists (including Boss Beauties). This collection was launched in collaboration with Coinbase.

In June 2022, Rolling Stone collaborated again with BAYC, releasing a Bored Ape and a Mutant Ape: this time, Yuga Labs created two phygital NFTs, with each piece digital art accompanied by an autographed print of the art.

In August 2023, Rolling Stone published a polemic in support of NFTs. The next month, Rolling Stone was riding out backlash from an article lambasting NFTs as "totally worthless" while featuring an image of a Bored Ape beneath the lede. (The Bored Ape featured in the article was not part of the Rolling Stone/BAYC collaboration.)
