Lexus Giving NFTs To Driving School Graduates
Milestone Date: October 13, 2022
As part of an innovative pilot program from Lexus, graduates of the Lexus Performance Driving School (LPDS) were issued an NFT to commemorate and celebrate their achievements and experiences.
The LPDS is an exhilarating experience where participants can race multiple high-performance Lexus vehicles around the Laguna Seca Raceway. Somewhat demonstrative of an NFT’s flexibility to forever enshrine records of different events with blockchain technology, the Lexus NFT is a Polygon-based token that will keep a permanent record of the driver’s performance, including a personalized 45-second video, lap times, fastest speed, and other racing metrics.
Lexus isn’t the first automotive company to explore NFTs to engage its customer base. Last year, McLaren Racing launched the McLaren Racing Collective, a digital platform that serves as a global community for its collectors and fans. This platform enables enthusiasts to purchase McLaren Racing digital collectibles in the form of NFTs. Additionally, MG Motor India became the first automaker in India to launch NFTs for its community.
