Blockchain Project: McDonald's Franchise and Developmental Licensing Programs

McDonald's Franchising is the McDonald's program for investors to license and operate McDonald's restaurants as franchisees. Franchises for McDonald's are obtained by becoming a franchisee directly from McDonald's, becoming a franchisee through a McDonald's subsidiary, or through McDonald's Developmental Licensing.

McDonald's Developmental Licensing is a program through which McDonald's restaurants can be owned outright by an outside company: within this structure, the outside company is granted licensing access to McDonald's IP and branding, while at the same time adhering to McDonald's standards and guidelines for restaurant operation. A key differences between the Developmental Licensing program and the franchising program is that a Developmental Licensee can own the real estate for their restaurants. 

McDonald's profits from the Developmental Licensing program through royalty fees.
