Williams Racing Launches “Grid Pass” NFT As Digital Collectible For F1 Fandom Experiences

The Grid Pass is the first NFT offering that’s part of the racing team’s Web3 program, Williams Racing Collectibles+. Williams Racing is launching the NFT-based collectible experience with the help of Kraken’s multi-chain NFT platform, NFT marketplace, and custodial wallet technology. Another goal of the initiative appears to drive more registrants and users of Kraken’s cryptocurrency exchange.

With the goal of “connecting racing fans and the crypto community worldwide,” the Grid Pass NFT is an entirely free digital token that will unlock exclusive perks and rewards for Williams Racing fans. According to the official website, the Grid Pass will provide both live and digital experiences with Williams Racing.

The pass includes the opportunity for fans to win race tickets, participate in giveaways, gain early access to merchandise, receive discounts on purchases, and have token-gated experiences at Williams’ Racing Fan Zones. The pass will also provide access to future digital collections, limited-edition NFTs, and proof of attendance (POAPs) for IRL (in the real world) events.

It appears that the Grid Pass is an open-edition collection, as the Kraken website states, “it will be available for anyone that wants one.”

The passes are also transferrable, meaning holders can transfer their Polygon -based ERC 721-compliant Grid Pass NFTs to any self-custodied digital wallet. The Kraken website does recommend that “your Grid Pass should stay in your Kraken account to receive the first batch of perks and rewards. Keeping your Grid Pass in your Kraken account is up to you, but it will make accessing some perks and rewards faster and easier.”
