Bitso Launches Prepaid Mastercard In Mexico

The “Bitso Card” works like a regular debit card and allows users to pay for everyday purchases with their cryptocurrency, like shopping at the market or paying for a restaurant bill. Card holders can also access special promos, like cashback and discounts, from select merchants.

Bitso started with its crypto exchange services in Mexico and has expanded them to Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. It has gained more than 6 million users and 1,500 institutional clients.

This is another example of how Mastercard is involved in blurring the lines between debit cards and crypto in various global geographies. In January, Binance launched a crypto-based prepaid Mastercard in Brazil.
